ARCATA ? Brian Morris' season of superlatives continued Wednesday when he added another honor to his illustrious resume. The Humboldt State men's basketball senior has been recognized again by being named Daktronics West Region Player of the Year.
Morris was previously honored as California Collegiate Athletic Association Player of the Year. The 6-9 center from Portland led the Lumberjacks to the CCAA regular season championship and a berth in the NCAA Division II West Region postseason tournament.
Heading into this week's regional in Ellensburg, Wash., Morris is averaging 18.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Earlier this season he set an HSU single-game scoring record with 50 points in a win over Cal State Monterey Bay.
Morris will be back on the court Friday when Humboldt State faces Alaska Anchorage in the first game of the west regional. The Lumberjacks and Seawolves are scheduled for a noon tip-off in Central Washington's Nicholson Pavilion.
